Call for Participants to the Summerweek 2010

We have a pleasure to invite you to the Summerweek Learning to live in MY Y/OURope“, which is taking place from 18th till 25th July 2010 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The Summerweek is designed for members of the movements. This means that participants in the meeting should be actively involved in projects at national/local level or to be members of the national/local board of the movement.

Moreover, participants must:

ü To be young people (students), active members of their national movements.

ü To be 16-30 years old.

ü To be able to work in English.

ü To be motivated to participate actively in the meeting.

ü To have the willingness to transmit their experience and the outcomes of the Summerweek to their national movements.

ü To be able to participate for the whole duration of the activity.

Participants should have a good knowledge on their national movement, be motivated towards the given subject and be willing / able to function as multipliers back in the movement.

In order to apply for this activity, you have to fill-in the application form (you can find it together with this document or download from our website at www.jeci-miec.eu or attached to this e-mail) and sent it by e-mail office@jeci-miec.eu. The deadline for receiving the applications is the 1st June 2010. In any case we already now are asking you to reserve the travel tickets and to buy then ONLY as your participation will be confirmed.

After receiving the applications we will inform your movement of the participants confirmed and we will send them the “Participants File”.

Summerweek…

ü Takes place every year.

ü Gathers 40-50 young people engaged on local or national level to share their experiences and reflections around a subject of common concern

ü Aims to exchange on the work and engagement of the participants and their organisations and to deepen their knowledge about each other

ü Analyses different aspects of the theme from a diversity of viewpoints and backgrounds in a European perspective

ü Develops common reflections about the possibilities of young people and the common challenges for the organisations

ü Defines possible lines of action for the concrete reality on all levels (local-national-European), by encouraging collaboration as an important dimension of changes

Meeting is aiming:

ü To provide the opportunity to Secondary students to meet and work around the same theme.

ü To give the space for members from national movements deepen the reflection and discussion about the importance of intercultural dialogue.

ü To promote the respect and the tolerance regarding cultural diversity

ü To provide the opportunity to develop personal skills, knowledge and attitudes through non-formal education to deal with cultural diversity responding to HR violations such as racism, intolerance and discrimination

ü To discover all tools that we as students members of youth organisation have in order to promote the intercultural dialogue in our milieu (secondary school)

ü To understand the Integral Education and how can be used to promote intercultural dialogue

ü To get in touch with the reality of the hosting country, concerning the issue of the multicultural environment (nations living together)

ü To empower students to develop different actions and projects that once back to their organisation they could put in practice (either in partnership with other JECI-MIEC movements or any other organisations).

Conditions of the Summerweek

Travel Expenses

According to our Reimbursement System, the travel expenses of the participants will be 80% reimbursed, according to the following criteria:

ü Participants must necessarily attend more than 80% of the activity;

ü Originals or copies of ALL travel tickets indicating the price, as well as (when available) a copy of its invoice/receipt, must be provided;

ü The following travel costs of the participant from his/her permanent residence to the activity venue are considered: Plane tickets for APEX-price – for distance above 750Km; Train tickets (2nd class) – for distance less than 750 Km

ü Local public transport (tram, bus, metro, train…) – (!!!NOT Taxi!!!)

Note: When travelling by train, participants must get two-way tickets and make use of all kind of reductions (student, <26 card…).

Participation-Fee

Participants will have to pay a participation-fee (please, consult the list below), which will be deducted from the travel reimbursements.

Such list was defined in a solidarity basis, according to the “living cost” of the country and the Budget of the movements.

If your country is not in the list, please write the European Coordination at office@jeci-miec.eu to ask the participation fee.

The payment or reimbursement (depending on the difference between travel expenses and inscription fee) will be done during the activity, being the operations in Euro. In case your inscription fee is higher than the travel expenses, please make sure the participants will have enough cash for the payment.

We remind that this system strongly takes in consideration that participants are attending the meeting as members of a national movement. Therefore, we raise awareness for the fact that the role of the movements in supporting / encouraging participation in the meeting must be reinforced.

Note: In any case financial matters should not be a reason for non-participation. Please let us know if any problem and we will find common solution.
